Case Studies: BI Modernization and Consolidation
1) Large Financial Services Company Automates BI Consolidation
One of the world's largest financial services firms had a thorn in its side. Since the 1980s, the NOMAD 4GL reporting tool had spidered throughout their end-user community. After decades of use, IT was now faced with a multi-million dollar, multi-year initiative to replace the legacy computer language with a modern, web-based product. The business rules in these programs were a valuable asset that needed to be leveraged.
Using the BI Consolidator, this company automatically converted the old syntax into that of a web-based BI reporting tool. The project was completed successfully in months instead of years, at a fraction of the cost to perform the work manually, and with happy users when they received their newly web-enabled reports and queries.
This automated BI consolidation got the attention of ComputerWorld, who named it as a Laureate Honors winner in their annual awards program.
2) Fleet Management Company Automates BI Consolidation
A large North American fleet management firm worked with Partner Intelligence to automate the consolidation of their legacy BI environments. With the BI Consolidation software, we automatically handled web application conversion tasks such as converting old CGI calls to Java Servlets, enforcing new standards (such as look-and-feel, name changes, and new calendar controls), and migrating them to a new platform. We also translated Oracle Portal launch pages and reports into a more robust BI product to improve functionality and reduce the number of supported reporting tools.
3) Regional Medical Center Automates BI Consolidation
A regional medical center had written thousands of mission-critical healthcare report processes using the mainframe QMF product (IBM's Query Management Facility). We were able to show them how to leverage their valuable IP assets and automatically translate the routines into a web-based BI product.
